Since its explosive debut in early 2024, Helldivers 2 has become one of the standout success stories of recent years. The game originally launched only on PC and PlayStation 5, leaving Xbox fans on the sidelines. That changed in August 2025, when Helldivers 2 finally expanded to the Xbox Series X/S. In the official Helldivers 2 Discord, Jorjani responded directly to a fan asking about the chances of cross-platform progression. His answer was candid:
“We’d love to add cross-platform progression, but other things take priority.”
The message may disappoint players who were hoping this feature was already in development, as it implies the team’s focus is currently elsewhere. Still, it’s not a complete shutdown — Jorjani’s comment that the team would love to add the feature suggests there is at least openness to the idea, even if it may be a long-term goal rather than an immediate one.
Why the Feature Is Being Delayed
From the studio’s perspective, the hesitation is understandable. Arrowhead recently acknowledged that it has been forced to shift its overall development strategy for Helldivers 2, largely due to ongoing performance issues that have grown more severe in recent months. While cross-progression would certainly be a welcome addition for many players, stabilizing the game seems to be the more urgent task.
For now, Arrowhead is aiming to release patches roughly every two weeks, focusing on fixes rather than content expansion. With the team committing to this new update cycle, it may be some time before Helldivers 2 can return to its usual content roadmap — and even longer before optional features like cross-platform progression can be implemented.
