Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC has only been available for a couple of weeks, yet it has already reshaped the game in major ways. New shiny-hunting techniques have replaced the infamous spawn overload glitch, Hyperspace Lumiose is packed with returning Pokémon, and players now have access to an impressive lineup of Legendary and Mythical Pokémon.
Among all these additions, however, the DLC quietly introduces what may be the single best overall farming method in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Unfortunately, this method becomes permanently unavailable once you complete a specific side mission.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Now Features 200 Side Missions
With the DLC installed, Pokémon Legends: Z-A now includes 200 side missions in total. Many of them are fairly minor, offering limited rewards or light story content. Others stand out significantly, such as the emotional Goodbye, Gengar quest or mission chains tied to Raichu that unlock new Mega Evolutions.
That said, one particular mission should be approached with caution if you care about long-term efficiency.
That mission is Side Mission 157: “What’s Wafting from Wigglytuff?”
The Side Mission That Locks the Best Farming Method in the DLC
Side Mission 157 becomes available after completing Hyperspace Mission 8. Players can find it in the Bleu District of Lumiose City, near Wild Zone 10.
An NPC named Bain asks for help cleaning his Wigglytuff, which refuses to bathe. His solution is unconventional: Wigglytuff must be “washed” during battle using the move Bubble Beam. Bain will only battle you if your team includes a Pokémon that knows Bubble Beam.
At first glance, this seems like a straightforward quest—but completing it immediately is a mistake.
How the Best Money, XP, and EV Farming Method Works
You can battle Bain and defeat his Wigglytuff without using Bubble Beam, even if a Pokémon on your team knows the move. When you do this, the game rewards you with:
- 4,752 Poké Dollars per battle
- Unlimited experience for Pokémon below level 100
- 3 HP EVs every time Wigglytuff is defeated
Since Bain notices that Wigglytuff wasn’t cleaned properly, he will repeatedly ask you to battle him again. As long as you avoid finishing the fight with Bubble Beam, the mission never completes—allowing you to fight him endlessly.
Each battle takes less than a minute, including dialogue, making this an extremely efficient farming loop.
Why This Farming Method Is So Powerful
Many of the strongest Pokémon builds in Pokémon Legends: Z-A rely on maximum HP combined with a maxed offensive stat. Normally, raising HP EVs requires spending large amounts of Poké Dollars on HP Up items.
This method removes that cost entirely. In just a few hours, players can:
- Max out HP EVs for multiple Pokémon
- Earn millions of Poké Dollars
- Power-level entire teams simultaneously
Few other methods in the game offer this level of efficiency across so many resources at once.
The Method Can Be Fully Automated
While the Z-A Infinite Royale near Wild Zone 8 can technically be more efficient, it requires constant player input. By contrast, the Wigglytuff method can be fully automated.
Using a Nintendo Switch turbo controller—or a programmable controller—players can repeatedly mash the A button through dialogue and battles. Some setups even allow auto-targeting with a rubber band on the ZL button, turning the process into a hands-free farming loop.
Recommended Pokémon for Maximum Efficiency
Almost any strong Poison- or Steel-type Pokémon will work, but for optimal results, a level 100 Metagross is ideal. With max Attack EVs and IVs and access to Heavy Slam, Metagross can one-shot Wigglytuff every time.
Just remember: do not finish the fight with Bubble Beam. Once you do, Side Mission 157 completes, and this incredible farming opportunity disappears for good.
