About Pokémon GO
Pokémon GO is a popular free-to-play augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed by Niantic. Released in July 2016, it uses GPS and your smartphone's camera to overlay virtual Pokémon onto the real world. Players act as Trainers who explore their physical surroundings to catch Pokémon, collect items at PokéStops, and battle for control of Gyms. The game encourages outdoor exploration, physical activity, and social interaction through community events and cooperative Raid Battles.
The Trading System
Introduced in June 2018, the trading system allows players to exchange Pokémon with friends to complete their Pokédex, obtain rare creatures, or get Pokémon with better stats. To trade, both players must be at least Level 10, be in-game friends, and be physically located within 100 meters of each other.
Trades require a currency called Stardust. The Stardust cost depends on the rarity of the Pokémon, whether it is a new Pokédex entry (Special Trade), and the players' Friendship Level. Higher friendship levels significantly reduce the trading cost, encouraging players to build long-term connections. Note that certain Pokémon, such as Shadow Pokémon, currently defending Gyms, and most Mythical Pokémon, are ineligible for trading.
